Financial Controller

This specialist manufacturing company based in Romford, Essex seeks a qualified Financial Controller to take responsibility for all financial aspects of the business and provide input to the Managing Director on strategic developments for the Company.

Key responsibilities

  • Monthly management accounts and reporting pack including variance analysis; cash flow etc
  • Annual budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning
  • Identify and develop improved reporting tools and financial controls
  • Develop and implement processes for resource planning; cost & stock control; job costings and measuring production efficiencies
  • Quarterly VAT return
  • Production of ad hoc reports and financial modelling
  • Supporting the business by providing detailed analysis to assist strategic decision making
  • Providing information for and liaising with external auditors
  • Management of staff and overseeing sales ledger, purchase ledger and payroll functions
  • Take ownership of one off projects as required


  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent
  • Experience within the engineering or manufacturing sector desirable
  • Experience of working in a senior finance position (5 years PQE)
  • Proven experience of operating in a growing and changing business
  • High level of commercial acumen
  • Experience of developing systems and process controls
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Experience in Sage 200
